Nan Smith in Israel - January 2017
I had a great trip to Israel this past January where I lectured at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, gave a mold-making and sculpture workshop at the Givat Haviva Art Center, and interviewed Technion scientists on water conservation efforts in Israel. I captured some great views of desert areas and waterways to be used for my Water: CodeBlue tile series. I also took photographs at the western wall in the Old City of Jerusalem to be used to create a tile mural. the mural will be exhibited at Baltimore Clay's upcoming exhibition on diversity. The travel research was supported by a research grant for the University of Florida.
